Less Work, Smarter Insights: HubSpot Deep Research Connector for ChatGPT

HubSpot just dropped something new for those of us living in the CRM every day: the HubSpot Deep Research Connector for ChatGPT. It lets you query your HubSpot CRM data from inside ChatGPT—and get structured, contextual analysis back in minutes. No digging, exporting, or piecing together dashboards.

If you’ve ever wanted an actual analyst living inside your CRM, this is about as close as it gets.

What It Does (And Why It’s Worth Your Time)

hubspot deep research connectorThe connector pulls your HubSpot CRM data—contacts, companies, deals, and tickets—into ChatGPT’s Deep Research tool. That means you can ask complex questions like “Which deal stages slowed down this quarter?” or “What are the top customer service pain points?” and get useful, multi-step analysis back, complete with citations and links to the records that matter.

Unlike regular ChatGPT chats, Deep Research stitches together multiple queries, narrows the context with follow-up questions, and delivers insights based on the CRM data you already trust. It takes 7–10 minutes to return results, but what you get is more than a summary—it's full-on analysis.

It’s Read-Only, Secure, and Admin-Friendly

Data security and user permissions are baked in. The connector respects your HubSpot access settings. A sales rep will only see their deals. A marketer can only view the campaigns they’re allowed to. And because the connector is read-only, it won’t modify any data or feed your CRM into OpenAI’s training models.

Admins have to enable the connector first, which acts as the green light for the rest of the team to use it. HubSpot also added audit logging so super admins can track who connected and when.

Deep Research, Real-World Examples

Sales: Deal Flow That’s Actually Diagnosable

You’ll get a downloadable report with clear metrics, trend lines, and recommended tactics.

Bonus: the report links directly to individual HubSpot records. You can click right into deals from the analysis to take action.

Marketing: Better Segments, Better Messaging

It will analyze campaign engagement by industry or persona and help you refine your next round of outreach. This beats combing through dozens of reports or guessing based on opens and clicks.

Service: Support Tickets That Tell a Story

Use prompts like: “What are the top 10 customer pain points based on last quarter’s support tickets?” You’ll get a summary broken down by issue, frequency, segment affected, and common triggers.

This is great for updating knowledge base articles, improving handoffs to product, or identifying training gaps within support teams.

Prompting Tips: Get the Most from the Connector

  • Use clear and specific language. More context = better results.
  • Anticipate clarifying questions. The AI often asks for parameters like what counts as a “slow stage.”
  • Always ask for sources. The Deep Research Connector provides citations that link directly back to CRM records.

Bonus: There's a Prompt Library

HubSpot built a full prompt library with categorized examples for sales, marketing, and service use cases. Start with a template, then adjust for your business context. Example prompts include:

  • “Which accounts are most at risk of churn this month?”
  • “What’s driving conversion drop-off in our funnel?”
  • “Which support topics are trending by region?”

Just copy, paste, and adjust. It’s that easy.

What It Doesn’t Do (Yet)

While the connector is powerful, there are a few limitations worth noting—especially if you're managing complex data or working across multiple accounts.

  • Write data back into HubSpot.
  • Access custom objects, HubDB, or attached notes/files.
  • Work with ChatGPT users in the EEA (due to OpenAI restrictions).

Also: it’s one ChatGPT account per HubSpot account. You’ll need to disconnect/reconnect if you manage multiple portals.

What's Next

HubSpot has hinted at future support for other LLMs like Gemini and Copilot. They’re also exploring expanded object access and more granular user-level permissions.

One more thing: While the connector is available to all HubSpot plans, you do need a paid ChatGPT plan to use it. And no, you can’t buy that through HubSpot (yet).

Final Take

The HubSpot Deep Research Connector isn’t just about looking inward—it’s part of a much bigger shift in how we all work. AI tools are now baked into our daily workflows, powering research, analysis, content, and more. And you can bet your buyers are using it to discover, evaluate, and choose vendors.
