We're thrilled to share some exciting news: Orange Marketing has been awarded HubSpot's Software Industry Specialist badge. HubSpot currently offers Industry Specialization Badges across roughly 25 verticals but caps each partner at three, and Software is our first.
Earning a specialization badge is a well-earned accreditation. HubSpot requires partners to show dedicated case studies and a track record in the specific industry they nominate for, along with proof that the partner speaks the language of that industry and understands its pain points.
For us, that proof was already sitting there. Since opening in Newport Beach, CA back in January 2018, we've built nine years of hands-on HubSpot experience with B2B SaaS companies, many of them VC-backed startups here in Orange County. "Getting this approval took us a week," said Rebecca Gonzalez, CEO of Orange Marketing. "Realizing we'd never once said we specialize in software companies on our own website took a badge application to force. The proof existed. The positioning didn't."
What the Badge Requires
Three things separate an agency that dabbles in software from one HubSpot recognizes as a specialist:
- Vertical specialization — proof of understanding the software sector's unique dynamics, not a generic HubSpot setup applied across every client.
- GTM and operational fluency — real capability with subscription revenue models, product-led and sales-led growth motions, and the longer, more complex buying cycles common in software sales.
- Tailored implementations — purpose-built solutions, technical integrations, and architecture designed around a software company's actual tech stack.
It's a high bar precisely because it's meant to separate agencies that say they work with software companies from ones that can prove it.
Why This Matters Beyond the Badge
The badge is part of HubSpot rewarding partners who specialize, rather than the catchall "we work with all B2B companies" positioning most agencies default to. Almost every HubSpot agency claims to support software clients. Few can point to a dedicated page and case studies proving it, which is exactly what this badge requires.
We saw the same thing play out with a client recently: the CEO of a B2B sales training company who has spent 35 years in the business. His view was blunt: firms that specialize outperform the ones that try to be everything to everyone. His team had built real depth across a handful of industries but never put together the content to show it. That was the same problem Orange Marketing faced: we needed to tie case studies together with services for clearer indications for AI search tools, researchers, and SEO.
What It Means for Software Companies Choosing a Partner
Beyond the recognition, the badge has practical value for software and SaaS companies shopping for a HubSpot partner:
- Better partner matching. Badged agencies are featured directly on HubSpot's partner directory listings and used by HubSpot's internal teams to match software clients with qualified specialists.
- Reduced ramp-up time. Working with a specialist means the agency already speaks the language of recurring revenue, churn tracking, and the shorter ROI runways software companies operate under. No education period required.
The AEO Angle
So much agency content sounds alike. That sameness is exactly what makes a page built around one industry, with real proof behind it, stand out, whether it's a prospect reading it directly or an AI tool trying to answer a question like "who's good at HubSpot for software companies."
Put another way: if an agency's website still just says "we serve B2B companies," ask what an AI answer engine actually does with that sentence. Nothing. There's no there there. Specificity is what gets surfaced now, by humans and algorithms alike.
A badge can help a software company find Orange Marketing in the first place, whether through HubSpot's directory or an AI tool answering the right question. But finding an agency and trusting it with your GTM engine are two different things.
That's what the case studies are for. If your software company is evaluating a HubSpot partner and wants to see the specific work behind the badge, not just the badge itself, talk to us.
